Installing Darktable 4.4.2: A Crash Report

As a long-time user of darktable, I was taken aback when version 4.4.2 refused to start on my system. The problem seems to have started with the release of version 4.2.1, which also exhibited similar behavior. Despite not experiencing any issues prior to this, I'm now unable to launch darktable without it crashing immediately.

System Specifications

I'm running a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card, equipped with 10496 CUDA cores and VBIOS version 94.02.42.C0.10. My system also boasts 24576 MB of RAM and is utilizing the proprietary nvidia-driver-525 driver.

Installation Details

I installed darktable 4.4.2 from the Ubuntu repository (specifically, version 4.4.2-1.1+69.1).

Operating System

My machine runs on a 64-core Intel Core i9 processor, utilizing 128 threads and operating under Ubuntu 23.04 with the XFCE desktop environment.

Expected Behavior

I expect darktable to start without any issues when run using the standard command 'darktable'. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The program consistently crashes on startup, regardless of whether I disable OpenCL or not.

Unfortunately, I've tried various approaches to resolve this issue, including disabling OpenCL at startup, but the problem persists. It's worth noting that version 4.2.2 also exhibited similar behavior when installed on my system.

In summary, darktable 4.4.2 crashes immediately upon launch on my Ubuntu 23.04 installation, with no apparent fix in sight.
